Namibia’s President-elect Nandi-Ndaitwah is sending a powerful message of unity and cooperation.
“Zimbabwe and Namibia are one,” she emphasises, highlighting the strong bond between the two nations.
“Agriculture will be one of our key economic pillars. We will take a leaf from Zimbabwe. We have exchange programmes with Zimbabwean farmers,” she said in an exclusive interview with The Herald in Windhoek this morning.
As the first female president of Namibia, Nandi-Ndaitwah is committed to maintaining peace and stability, while tackling pressing issues like food security, job creation, and women’s empowerment.
Her priorities are guided by the Swapo Party’s election manifesto, which focuses on key areas like agriculture, education, health, and land reform.
President-elect Nandi-Ndatwah said her administration has a lot to learn from Zimbabwe’s agriculture sector.
To address the challenges facing the SADC region, including terrorism and conflict in Mozambique and the DRC, she stressed the importance of dialogue and cooperation.
“Those who are in conflict must come to the table,” she urged, recognising that conflict is not a solution to problems.
On women’s empowerment, the incoming Namibian leader vowed to continue advocating for equality between men and women.
She welcomed the growing number of men becoming activists for gender equality and noted the EU’s masculinity programme, which aims to promote equality between men and women.
