THE Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has postponed indefinitely the National Annual Science Sports and Arts Festival (Nassaf) 2018 due to the cholera outbreak in Harare.
The festival, set to bring all the 10 provinces, was supposed to be held in Bulawayo from September 17-22.
Nassaf public relations officer Giyani Moyo said: “The ministry has postponed the Nassaf 2018 due to the cholera outbreak in some parts of the country.
We will advise all stakeholders about the way forward,” said Moyo. Nassaf is an annual event of arts and sports not covered by the National Association of Secondary School Heads (Nash) such as gymnastics, karate, ICT games, dance, poetry, painting, craft, home décor and mass displays, among others.
A total of 5 000 learners from the country’s 10 provinces were expected to converge in Bulawayo for the festival.
The event is part of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s new curriculum, whose aim is to produce an all-round person through encouragement to take up non-academic skills.
The festival was meant to be officially opened by Vice President Kembo Mohadi. — @DecoDecent2
