skewed policies of colonial governments.
Speaking at a ceremony where he handed over welding and sewing machines to women and youths recently in District 1 in Harare, Cde Shiraaz Kassam, also condemned the west’s illegal economic sanctions regime.
“Our President wants us to empower ourselves and the less fortunate who were marginalised by past policies.
“We should therefore work together with our party, Zanu-PF and its leader President Mugabe so that we complete the empowerment exercise that he has initiated,” Cde Kassam said.
Cde Kassam urged women and the youths to use the machinery productively so that they help their families and dependants.
Speaking at the same occasion the district’s chairperson Cde Abraham Samushonga, echoed similar sentiments saying Zanu-PF was paying particular attention to women and youths as they are critical in the nation’s development.
“Our emphasis is on you women and youths because you are important in the development of the nation.
“What you have seen here is just the beginning of the various programmes that we are going to introduce in this district,” he said.
Mrs Pauline Chadzimira, a committee member in the district’s executive welcomed Cde Kassam’s gesture saying it provided them with a platform to be self-reliant.
“We would like to thank him for the donation as it will allow us to work for ourselves because what has been hampering us is lack of equipment to carry out our projects,” she said.
