National Clean-up December 2024: Plumtree Town Council encourages residents to participate

PLUMTREE Town Council has encouraged residents to participate in the National Clean-up Day on December 6, 2024.

In a Statement on the residents’ WhatsApp group, the local authority said: “The general public is reminded of the Presidential National Clean-up Campaign scheduled for Friday the 6th of December 2024. The cleaning exercise will be conducted at the CBD from 08:00 hours to 10:00 hours and the meeting point is Plumtree Town Council.”

President Emmerson Mnangagwa decreed the National Clean-Up Day on 5 December 2018 to encourage Zimbabweans to maintain a clean environment. It is marked on the first Friday of every month.

“I, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe recognising the Constitutional Mandate to uphold environmental fundamental rights and freedoms provided for in the section 73 of the constitution of Zimbabwe the “right to an environment that is not harmful to tier health and well-being”, hereby declare that every first Friday of each calendar month is a National Clean-Up Day,” reads the decree.
