UMZINGWANE District, Matabeleland South – The national launch for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign has commenced at Mawabeni Business Centre.

Spearheaded by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises, in collaboration with various development partners, the event aims to raise awareness and combat gender-based violence in Zimbabwe.

This year’s campaign is themed “Towards 30 Years of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action: Unite to End Violence against Women & Girls.” The programme began with a vibrant march around the Mawabeni Business Centre area, drawing the attention of the local community to the pressing issue.

The 16 Days of Activism campaign, running from November 25 to December 10, serves as a global initiative to galvanise efforts against gender-based violence, highlighting the need for collective action. The launch event in Umzingwane District emphasizes the government’s commitment to addressing violence against women and girls, a critical issue that affects communities across the nation.

Participants include local leaders, activists, and community members, all united to promote gender equality and support survivors of violence. The campaign seeks to foster dialogue, raise awareness, and mobilise resources to eradicate gender-based violence in Zimbabwe and beyond.
