THOUSANDS of people are expected to attend the 6th edition of the annual National Thanksgiving and Dedication Service at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Grounds in Bulawayo on Friday.
President Mnangagwa is expected to grace the occasion.

The church service is being organised by the Faith for the Nation Campaign — an inter-denominational grouping of local churches.

It is a platform where believers meet the country’s leadership to intercede for the nation.

This year, the event will be held under the theme: “Let us embrace the culture of hard work, the key to building our nation Zimbabwe.”

The theme is anchored on the script from Second Chronicles 15 verse 7 which reads: “Be ye strong therefore — Go on resolutely to maintain God’s worship, and to root out idolatry, as you have begun to do; for this is the only method of preserving yourselves from such calamities as your predecessors have felt.”

In an interview, Family of God (FOG) founder and chairperson of the Faith for Nation campaign Prophet Andrew Wutawunashe said they are expecting thousands of people to come to attend the service.

“This year’s service will be a chance for people to accept God in their hearts, enjoy the Word of God and have fun with the diverse gospel musicians who are going to be leading praise and worship. Because of this, we are going to be providing buses at different stations to ferry people to the venue so that they do not encounter transport problems,” he said.

Prophet Wutawunashe said people will also benefit from accurate perceptions about the nation.

“Apart from accurate perceptions about the nation, people will also get confidence building in where their nation is going. The services also unify the country as people from different parts of the country and the world all come together and become one,” he said.

“This is not a local conference, but an international one. We are also going to broadcast our services on ZBC and our social media platforms.”
Prophet Wutawunashe said the theme of this year’s service is in line with Vision 2030.

“As we work towards Vision 2030, the service is working as a listening post for both the Government and the church. During these services, the church gets a chance to engage with the Government and share their own perspective and vice-versa,” he said.
