the coming harmonised elections dealing a major blow to the MDC-T’s efforts at forming a coalition against Zanu-PF.
MDC secretary-general Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga filed Prof Ncube’s papers at the High Court where the nomination court was sitting.
In an interview after successfully filing the papers, Mrs Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga professed ignorance over the so-called grand coalition project.
“We have filed our papers. They were in order. No-one has approached us with the issue of a grand coalition. We read it in the newspapers,” she said.
Mrs Misihairabwi-Mushonga said the MDC has never sat with anyone to discuss the issue of forming the grand coalition. She denied claims by Mavambo/Dawn/Kusile leader Dr Simba Makoni on Thursday that there were consultations involving the MDC underway to nominate a single presidential candidate for the coalition.
“I do not even know what the grand coalition is about. I do not know what he (Dr Makoni) is talking about. My party has never been in a meeting to discuss the grand coalition,” she said.
Mrs Misihairabwi-Mushonga said the MDC only came together with other political summit in coming up with one position on Zimbabwe during the Sadc summit held in Mozambique earlier this month.
