WANTED fugitive Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma is expected to appear in a South African court on Monday as the legal process to extradite him to the United Kingdom gets underway.

South African Police Service (SAPS) national spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said Tshuma would be processed in accordance with South African law following his arrest in Kensington, Johannesburg, on Friday.

She said the 45-year-old suspect would appear in court on Monday, with the “necessary legal and extradition process” to be undertaken in conjunction with United Kingdom authorities.

The arrest marks a significant development in investigations into the deaths of Tshuma’s wife, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma (42), and their daughters, Natalie (15) and Nala (5), whose bodies were found at their home in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, last week.

Detective Inspector Lee Martin of Bedfordshire Police in the United Kingdom praised the close collaboration between international law enforcement agencies, saying the operation to locate Tshuma had moved swiftly.

“This has been a fast-moving investigation which has involved multiple law enforcement partners, including the National Crime Agency, Interpol and authorities in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.

“Thanks to the tireless work and dedication of all those involved, we have managed to swiftly locate and arrest Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma,” said Det Insp Martin.

Meanwhile, Chief Crown Prosecutor Emma Davies said prosecutors had authorised charges after carefully reviewing the evidence submitted by Bedfordshire Police.

“The charges follow careful review of evidence provided by Bedfordshire Police.

“Our thoughts remain with Zandile, Natalie and Nala’s loved ones and with everyone affected by what has happened,” said Ms Davies.

British authorities are expected to seek Tshuma’s extradition from South Africa after the country’s legal processes have been completed.
