A Mutambara man last week appeared in court for using handcuffs to assault his neighbour who had accused him of owning goblins.
Livingstone Nasho pleaded guilty to assaulting Memory Shamhu when he appeared before Mutare magistrate, Miss Nyasha Kuture.
Public prosecutor, Mr Donald Mudadirwa told the court that Nasho, who stays in Muungani Village assaulted the complainant during a beer drinking spree.
Said Mudadirwa: “On the day in question, at around 7am, Shamhu was drinking beer at a Chinese bar in the village when the accused ambushed her. He then confronted her, asking why she was soiling his name by telling people that he owned goblins but Shamhu refused to speak to him. This did not go down well with Nasho who wanted an explanation.
“He took handcuffs from his pockets and thrashed the complainant several times with them,”
Shamhu sustained serious deep cuts on the head.
Asked why he had committed the offence, Nasho blamed it on bouts of anger which he had failed to control.
“She was spreading word that I have goblins Your Worship. I was filled with so much anger that I only realised that I had committed an offence after I had already assaulted the complainant,” he said.
He awaits sentencing.
