Neighbours at loggerheads

A HARARE man is at odds with his neighbour for taking drugs in his backyard.

Farai Kambamura said he was fed up with Phillip Marengo’s behaviour.

Phillip was said to be teaming up with Farai’s unnamed younger brother to consume drugs in his compound.

The matter came to light at the Harare Civil Court where Farai applied for a peace order against Phillip and his wife.

Magistrate Sharon Mashavire presided over the matter.

During the hearing, Farai said:

“I need peace because Phillip and my younger brother once attacked me after I banned them from coming into my yard to do their drug consumption.

“When I got them arrested, my mother pleaded with me to withdraw the charges, which I adhered to and they were released from the cells.

“An hour later, Philip went on to make some malicious reports against me at Warren Park Police Station until he got a peace order against me that he is taking advantage of.

“His wife, Violent Zimunya, assaulted my five-year-old daughter.

“When I tried to confront them, they used the peace order as defence for their actions.”

In response, both Violet and Phillip denied the allegations.

Magistrate Mashavire granted the peace in Farai’s favour.
