Neighbours drag ‘intoxicated teen’ from burning house in Bulawayo

NEW Lobengula residents in Bulawayo woke up to the bright light of flames that had engulfed one of the houses in the area in the late hours of yesterday.

A teenager identified only as ‘Sbu’ who resides in the engulfed house escaped the flames by a whisker and was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital after being rescued by one of the neighbours. It is suspected he may have been affected by smoke inhalation.

Witnesses said Sbu was last seen heavily intoxicated, which may have resulted in him delaying to react to the fire inside the house.

The fire brigade said a candle could have caused the inferno.
