Nemane ready to host inter-district cricket finals

NEMANE High School in Tsholotsho will host the National Association of Secondary School Heads (Nash) inter-district girls’ cricket finals that start today and end tomorrow.

Hwange, Umguza, Bubi, Lupane and hosts Tsholotsho districts from the province have confirmed their participation in the tournament that will also be used to select a Matabeleland North girls’ cricket team for the inter-provincial finals set for June 2-3 in Marondera.

“It’s all systems go. As hosts, we’re ready for our visitors as we make full use of the cricket  field and facilities constructed for us by Matabeleland Tuskers as part of the game’s development initiative,” said Nemane High School sports director Xolani Mumba.

“The first game is expected to start early on Thursday (today), with the final set for the following day.”

According to the Nash Matabeleland North head-in-charge of cricket Fiona Ndlovu of Gebuza High School from Hwange district, St James, Nemane, Inyathi, Mosi oa Tunya, Gebuza and Chilisa are some of the schools taking part in the event.

Ndlovu said Nemane High School will also host the boys’ version of the inter-district finals from June 9-10.

“National finals will again be in Marondera from July 28-29,” said Ndlovu.
