Nestle Zimbabwe has donated US$25 000 to a local non-governmental organisation to help children with cancer. Speaking at the handover ceremony in Harare on Thursday, Health and Child Care Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa applauded the company for supporting disadvantaged children.

“Cancer has become a disease that needs as much recognition as HIV and Aids.
“I want to express my gratitude to Nestle for supporting children with cancer. We hope other companies will emulate your example and play their role in supporting children with cancer,” he said. Kidzcan, a local NGO, received the donation.

Dr Parirenyatwa said healthcare provision remained a priority for Government within the context of sustained economic development and growth.

He said Government was exploring ways to improve the care and treatment of cancer patients.
“We are concentrating our efforts on improving the provision of an early diagnosis and effective treatment of cancer in children,” he said.
Kidzcan chairman Mr Dave Mills thanked Nestle for showing interest in improving conditions for children with cancer.

Kidzcan’s main objective is to provide hope, comfort and consolation to the families and children with cancer.
