Nestle Zim invests $11m in global business excellence programme

The link was being provided through one of the world’s leading business management software companies, SAP, which enables organisations to develop standard application software for real-time business processing.
Nestle said GLOBE has proven to be effective in all the firm’s markets, thus boosting its way of doing business.
In a statement, the company said the business excellence programme was being rolled out in two clusters to provide better business alignment across the Equatorial Africa region’s eight operating concerns.
The first cluster including Kenya, Mauritius, Congo and Zimbabwe, went live this week while the second cluster that includes Angola, Mozambique and Zambia will go live during the course of the year.
In the Equatorial Africa region, the implementation involved the creation of several cross-functional teams across many countries that came together in Mauritius for one year to prepare for the go-live.
“The rapid growth rate of the Equatorial African region in the last three years and the need to enhance management capacity have called for a change of our enterprise resource planning system that can support our ambitious future growth while streamlining our operational costs, hence the adoption of GLOBE,” said the company.
Nestle envisages that the new system will help the region align the business fully to the global firm’s best practices while improving service delivery especially on efficiency, and strengthening its competitive advantage.
“With the era of globalisation, consumers want to experience the same standards of services and products regardless of where they are in the world and this motivated the region to adopt GLOBE to ensure that the company’s best practices are enjoyed by our customers, suppliers, partners and staff in the whole region.”
The firm implemented its initial investment to South Africa to customise the SAP to GLOBE, which was first launched in Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland and Chile in 2002.
The global business excellence programme also provides the region’s employees with the latest skills and knowledge in best practices and tools and is a significant investment to build their capabilities.
