ZIMBABWE Netball Association president, Leticia Chipandu, said the Gems are set to play some friendlies in preparation for the Netball World Cup.

The Zimbabwe senior national netball team qualified for the Netball World Cup to be staged in Cape Town, South Africa, in July and August.

“The team will be in camp from Sunday to the end of March.

“We are likely to play Malawi in a friendly. We want to identify talent so we can trim the squad to 15, who will be travelling to the World Cup.

“We also have plans to play Uganda and South Africa.

“Our players are already playing in their leagues.

“In all essence, the players are training.

“We are just waiting for confirmation of the dates from these countries and I think we will be better prepared than the last World Cup.

“Towards the end of last year, we went to the Diamond Cup in South Africa as part of preparations for the World Cup.

“We took a lot of new players as we are trying to beef up our squad.”
