Telecommunications company NetOne recently unveiled its telemedicine service at the just-ended Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.

This new service, developed in collaboration with ZimSmart, aims to improve healthcare access across the country, especially in underserved communities.

NetOne’s chief commercial officer Mr Learnmore Musunda highlighted the importance of this service in transforming the healthcare landscape.

“Our health product aims to revolutionise the way patients, doctors, and healthcare providers interact by offering a comprehensive platform that seamlessly connects them in a user-friendly manner,” he said

“Telehealth is like bringing the doctor to you, minus the waiting room magazines. It is a game-changer in healthcare, allowing patients to connect with medical professionals

remotely. Think of it as FaceTiming with your doctor, but with a bit more medical jargon.”

The telemedicine service is powered by the Vaakafya Batsi Health and XMarketplace, utilising the extensive NetOne network to ensure that users can access healthcare services

from the comfort of their homes.

NetOne’s acting head of marketing Mr Tatenda Makumborenga said the platform is designed for convenience.

“This telehealth platform is the cool kid on the block, connecting patients, doctors, and healthcare providers in a seamless and user-friendly way,” he said.

“It is like a virtual healthcare hub where you can get the medical assistance you need without leaving the comfort of your couch. ”

He also noted that the support from Dr Mnangagwa’s office was crucial in bringing the innovation to life, saying, “Gone are the days of sitting in a crowded waiting room, flipping

through old magazines.”

NetOne product manager Mr Easyway Samusodza emphasised the initiative’s focus on inclusivity, “Leaving no one and no place behind, we have also placed community health

booths in disenfranchised communities.

“These allow community members to access healthcare that was previously a privilege of city dwellers.”

“Our platform ensures that your sensitive medical information is safe and sound with secure messaging and file-sharing features.”
