NEW: 6 perish in Shamhu accident

SIX people died, while six others were injured in an accident that happened near Shamhu Business Centre yesterday.

In a statement, police confirmed the accident and said the driver of a Mazda T35 truck which was carrying timber and 14 passengers on board lost control of the vehicle before it veered off the road and overturned.

“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 9km peg along Mutare-Shamhu Road on August 29 at around 4pm where six people died, while six others were injured after a Mazda T35 carrying timber with 14 passengers on board veered off the road and overturned,” reads the statement.

The names of the victims are still to be released.
