Africa has immense potential to drive commercial and economic growth, African Union permanent representative to China Mr Rahamtalla Mohamed Osman has said.
He was speaking during the official opening of the Forum on China-Africa economic, trade and cultural cooperation in Jinhua, Zhejiang province on Friday.
The conference started on November 7 and runs until November 9.
lt is running under the theme “Exchange and Mutual Learning, People-to-people Bond, Win-win Cooperation”
“Africa’s potential has long been limited by inadequate infrastructure, a request for restrictive access to reliable energy, efficient transportation and robust digital economic connectivity,” said Mr Osman.
“These challenges have constrained the continent’s ability to fully engage with global markets and meet the growing needs of the population.
“However, the African Union is responsible for addressing these infrastructural deficits and a well-connected network that facilitates the seamless movement of goods, services, and people.
“This integrated infrastructure is essential for boosting trade, fostering economic growth, and achieving regional integration across the continent.”
