In a significant move aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and food security, Bison Agro Machinery Manufacturing has opened a new support centre in Chiredzi.
In a commentary on its X handle, the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services said the facility will provide after-sales and backup services for farmers and is part of a broader agriculture mechanisation programme initiated by the Government.
This comes after the successful deployment of over 150 Belarus-made tractors that are currently being used by farmers in Chiredzi, thereby highlighting the fruitful cooperation between Zimbabwe and Belarus.
“Over 150 Belarus-made tractors are working in Chiredzi as a result of cooperation between Zimbabwe and Belarus.
“This is part of the Government’s agriculture mechanisation programme, which intends to increase productivity and improve food security in the country,” said the ministry.
Bison Agro Machinery, renowned for its production of tractors and combine harvesters, aims to enhance the operational efficiency of these machines, ensuring that farmers have access to necessary support and maintenance.
This initiative aligns with Zimbabwe’s ongoing efforts to modernise its agricultural sector, which is crucial in increasing productivity and improving food security.
The collaboration with Belarus not only brings modern machinery to the farmers but also fosters a spirit of cooperation and knowledge exchange between the two nations.
As the new centre opens its doors, local farmers have expressed optimism about the future of agriculture in Chiredzi.
They are eager to leverage the advantages that come with mechanisation and enhanced support services.
