The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) said they have put in place all the necessary measures to ensure that every person and place is counted during the process.
Speaking on the sidelines of a march in Mutare’s Central Business District this morning to raise awareness on the programme, ZimStat Manicaland provincial statistician, Mr Fidelis Kupara said all field workers were trained and are ready to roll out the process.
“The 2022 National Population and Housing Census process commences tonight with the census night. During this process, enumerators will be counting the homeless, the transient population such as those travelling and those who will be in places like hotels, lodges and hospitals.
“The census night also serves as a reference point such that those people will not be counted again if an enumerator finds them at their home five days after the census night as we will refer to them as having already been counted on the night of April 20. All our enumerators are ready and fully equipped after we trained them and they also had a field practise session,” said Mr Kupara.
Mr Kupara urged citizens to fully cooperate with the enumerators throughout the process to ensure smooth flow of the process.
The 2022 National Population and Housing Census will run from tomorrow (Thursday) to June 30.
