LISTED tea and distilled water producer, Tanganda Tea Company is aiming at exporting 50 percent of its products as it seeks to leverage on the acquisition of the latest technology at its Mutare plant.
In his presentation to journalists today during a media tour hosted by Tanganda Tea Company, the Beverage and Marketing Manager, Mr Kwirirai Chigerwe said the company is confident of attaining that feat in five years time.
Currently, Tanganda exports 15 to 20 percent of its products.
“The 50 percent export margin we hope to attain is earmarked to be achieved in the next five years. We are currently exporting around 15 to 20 percent of our produce. But given the investment put into the revitalisation of the company, we should be able to attain the 50 percent mark. This will also be made possible by the latest technology that the company acquired in recent times,” said Mr Chigerwe.
Tanganda has been mainly exporting to Zambia, Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique and to a little extent, Namibia.
Tanganda Tea Company, which has undergone massive retooling in the past 10 years and has since been relisted on the country’s Stock Exchange, had its plant in Mutare established in 1961 and started operating in 1963.
