Africa University (AU) has moved a gear up in fighting malaria after it recently acquired equipment for research, which will also boost the scope of the Zimbabwe Entomological Support Programme in Malaria (ZENTO).
ZENTO has been focused in Manicaland, but with the new equipment, the research will be extended to Mashonaland East.
Posting on its Twitter handle, the Africa University said it will target four districts in Mashonaland East.
“The AU-Zimbabwe Entomological Support Programme in Malaria (ZENTO) received microscopes, office equipment and two vehicles that were dedicated by Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Mageto and the community that will enable staff leading the grant to expand their operations and research scope,” said AU.
“Previously, the project area of operations covered Manicaland. However, after satisfactorily meeting performance targets, the project will now cover four districts in Mashonaland East, namely: Mudzi, Mutoko, UMP and Hwedza. In addition, a project vehicle has also been purchased.”
