NEW:  Army warns of fraudsters posing as recruitment agents

Online reporter

THE Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has urged the public to be wary of fraudsters posing as recruitment agents who are fleecing unsuspecting victims of their hard-earned money.

The scammers pose as army recruitment officers and demand payment from prospective candidates in exchange for false employment promises.

“The Zimbabwe National Army has noted with concern the increasing cases of bogus recruiting agents targeting unsuspecting members of the public.

“We urge the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest Army Camp or Zimbabwe Republic Police station,” said ZNA Public Relations director Colonel Alphios Makotore.

“Our recruitment processes are transparent and free of charge; we do not charge any fees for recruitment or training, nor do we involve third parties.”

Medical examinations are conducted by the army free of charge.

Col Makotore said the scammers are using sophisticated tactics, including social media, fake recruitment notices and advertisements to deceive people.
