NEW: Blanket Mine posts new Q3 production record

GWANDA-BASED gold producer, Blanket Mine, produced 18 965 ounces (oz) of gold in the three months to September 30, 2021, which was a new quarterly production record for the mine.

In the prior comparable period, Blanket Mine produced 15 155oz.

Management attributed the improved output to the contribution of its new Central Shaft, a project that was commissioned earlier this year.

Over the nine months to September 30, 2021, Blanket Mine produced 48 872oz, which was a 14 percent increase on the 42 887oz produced in the first nine months of last year.

Blanket Mine is owned by Canadian firm, Caledonia Mining Corporation.

Said Caledonia CEO Mr Steve Curtis:

“This has been another excellent quarter: record quarterly production of almost 19 000 ounces signifies the contribution that Central Shaft is already making.

“The commissioning and subsequent ramp-up of activity at Central Shaft met our best expectations and we have therefore been able to narrow our production guidance to the top end of our previous range.

“We remain on track to hit our 80 000-ounce target from 2022 onwards.”
