NEW: Boy (4) killed by truck while crossing road

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD Honde Valley boy was yesterday hit and killed by a Nissan Hardbody truck while trying to cross the road in the company of his father.

 

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the accident, saying the boy died on the spot after sustaining head injuries.

 

His body was taken to Hauna District Hospital mortuary.

 

“The deceased was in the company of his father Douglas Munetsi and as they tried to cross the road at the 25km peg along Selbourne Road, the boy was hit by a Nissan Hardbody truck that was being driven by Francis Tsanzira. He sustained head injuries and died on the spot. The accident was reported to Nyanga police, who attended the scene before the body was taken to Hauna District Hospital mortuary,” he said

 

Inspector Muzondo urged motorists and other road users to exercise caution at all times.
