NEW: Buses, commuter omnibuses disregarding designated routes

POLICE have arrested 5 172 people operating public service vehicles across the country for failure to comply to route permits and timetables on intercity routes.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), 501 people were arrested on Tuesday alone.

“On February 28, 2023, police arrested 501 people across the country in an operation on the enforcement of route permits and timetables for public service vehicles (PSVs).

“This brings the cumulative figure of arrests to 5 172,” said ZRP in a statement.
