A NEW business association, Bulawayo Entrepreneurs Association (BEA) has been formed in the city with the aim of addressing numerous challenges facing up-and-coming businesses.
BEA president Isaiah Jonga said the new association has been registered with the Deeds Office and the Ministry of Small to Medium Enterprises.
“We’ve formed a new business association called BEA. So far we’ve about 50 members drawn from various sectors namely education, clothing, transport and cross border traders,” said Jonga.
He said the association was targeting to register more than 500 members by September this year.
“We want to mobilise funds through various activities in order to support our members who are operating different businesses,” said Jonga.
“We also want to promote small businesses financially and offer moral support through business workshops with accomplished business people.”
He said most Bulawayo companies were facing viability challenges like other firms across the country, which his association intends to tackle.
“We would like to join hands with others in addressing challenges of company closures that leave thousands of workers with no jobs,” Jonga added.
He said the growth of small to medium scale enterprises was critical and possible if they were given adequate financial.
The new kid on the block joins other business associations such as the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries and the Association of Businesses in Zimbabwe.
