BUY ZIMBABWE is undergoing restructuring, with Munyaradzi Hwengwere assuming the role of chief executive officer, while Alois Burutsa becomes the new marketing and sales consultant.
In a statement on Wednesday, Buy Zimbabwe said the changes were made in consultation with key stakeholders.
“As we await the finalisation of the restructuring process, an interim team has been appointed, with Munyaradzi Hwengwere stepping into the dual roles of CEO and chairperson,” reads the statement.
“Alois Burutsa, formerly the general manager, will transition to the role of marketing and sales consultant.
“Through consultation with stakeholders, Buy Zimbabwe has recognised the need for a major transformation of the organisation.”
Meanwhile, Buy Zimbabwe says it has made significant strides in making sure local products dominate local markets.
“We have seen a remarkable increase over the years in shelf space for local products, growing from just 10 percent to over 50 percent for many items,” reads the statement.
“Additionally, Zimbabwe has witnessed a surge in new products entering the market, especially from young entrepreneurs, women and small to medium enterprises.
“These innovators must be supported to help improve market access and foster economic development. This is the path Buy Zimbabwe is now charting. We have launched a comprehensive transformation journey to align with evolving market trends, ensuring that the millions of entrepreneurs and innovators who are struggling to access markets receive the support they need.”
