Mr Salani said by yesterday, seven survivors were still admitted at Chipinge District Hospital, while the others had been treated and discharged.

He commended the people of Chimanimani and Chipinge and other well-wishers for the assistance they rendered during the rescue operation after the accident.

“I applaud the Chipinge and Chimanimani communities who offered their services during a very difficult time and everyone else who was involved in working hard until the following day,” said Mr Salani

He urged drivers to ensure that their vehicles are regularly checked and to avoid overloading.

Added Mr Salani: “It is sad that drivers at times throw caution to the wind. Human life is sacrosanct. Some of these accidents are avoidable.”
