NEARLY a year after the death of Zim-dancehall chanter, Soul Jah Love, his family seems to be making headway in gathering his estate.

Born Soul Musaka, Soul Jah Love died in February 2021, leaving some of his properties and compositions scattered.

This presented challenges for his family, who – in trying to gather his properties – faced resistance from those who were in possession of the artiste’s assets.

Soul Jah Love left behind a nearly complete house, a residential stand in Stoneridge and four vehicles (Ford Explorer, Toyota Hiace, Honda Illusion and a BMW X5).

However, the BMW X5 and Honda Illusion were possessed by music promoter Patson Chimbodza, also known as Chipaz Promotions, and the late artiste’s friend, Batsirai Nyanungo, respectively.

Soul Jah Love’s sister, Caroline Musaka, said after the intervention of the Master of High Court both vehicles have since been handed over to the family.

“Finally the cars are back, but unfortunately we are still facing resistance from various producers who are profiteering from Soul’s music without our consent.

“We have been making frantic efforts to bar them from doing that. Lawyers and the Master of High Court have even written letters to them, but they still disregard,” she said.

“We do not have a choice now save to wait for the law to take its course.”
