CITY Parking has unveiled an innovative solution to enhance parking enforcement and mitigate conflicts between marshals and drivers.
The Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system has transformed the detection and enforcement of parking violations.
ANPR technology is mounted on vehicles equipped with cameras that automatically scan, read and record licence plates in real-time.
The captured data is instantly transmitted to a central control room dashboard, enabling enforcement officers to monitor violations and issue fines more efficiently.
During a media engagement on Wednesday, City Parking managing director Mr Simon Muzviyo emphasised the new system’s advantages.
“This technology allows us to keep our streets clearer and ensure fair parking for all,” he stated.
“It reduces human error, accelerates enforcement and ultimately improves traffic flow.”
Unlike traditional patrols, which rely on manual checks, ANPR vehicles can quickly cover large areas, identifying illegally parked cars, expired permits and unauthorised vehicles in mere seconds.
The system’s real-time functionality ensures that violations are no longer overlooked and repeat offenders can be flagged immediately.
As cities embrace smarter infrastructure, ANPR is proving to be a game-changer in parking management.
