THE Harare City Council on Wednesday launched the e-Musika Markets digital system in Mbare to modernise revenue collection and enhance service delivery.

Council head of ICT, Mr William Mugobogobo, said the system was developed in collaboration with the Harare Institute of Technology.

“The e-Musika system is part of the LADS initiative (Local Authority Digital Systems) comprising 34 modules which include billing, receipting, procurement, housing and land management,” he said.

“The system is designed to formalise the informal sector.”

The technology also addresses revenue leakages by facilitating daily cash reconciliation to prevent the diversion of collected revenue.

“The system generates computerised receipts, increasing confidence among vendors and encouraging timely payments,” said Mr Mugobogobo
