NEW: D-Day for Chiredzi suspected fraudster

Online Reporter

A suspected fraudster, Brenda Dhaka, is expected in court tomorrow for judgment.

Dhaka (36) is facing charges of forging the Chiredzi Town Council secretary’s signature on the fake offer letters she was giving unsuspecting home seekers to defraud them.

She is expected to appear before Chiredzi Magistrate Ms Tendai Mutamba on allegations of selling non-existent residential stands.

Dhaka is denying all four counts of fraud and another count of forgery.

The State, led by Ms Moreblessing Rusere, said Dhaka duped Romeo Murhaho of US$3 000 in a botched residential stand deal in September 2023.

She also allegedly duped Violet Chikwadze of US$4 000 in a car sale deal in July last year.

On September 2, 2024, Dhaka allegedly connived with Saruna Mutonono and used a counterfeit offer letter to sell a residential stand to Cuthbert Mbanda for US$5 500.

The matter came to light when Mbanda went to Chiredzi Town Council offices to seek approval for his plan. It was discovered that his offer letter was counterfeit.

Dhaka did the same to Precious Mungoni of Triangle and got away with US$4 000 after selling her a stand in Makondo Extension.
