VILLAGERS in Ward 24 of Mutasa Central are set to embark on a dairy farming project aimed at improving their livelihoods as well as enhancing food security and nutrition.

Ward councillor, Councillor Patrick Mutasa, said they are in the process of acquiring the dairy cattle for the project through the villagers’ resource mobilisation programme.

He said the farmers will also receive basic training in dairy production in order to ensure maximum utilisation of the available resources.

“We have come together as villagers to form a group called Manica Bridge Dairy Farmers. Our goal is to improve household livelihoods as well as to make them food secure. We are pooling resources together and we will also grow the grasses we shall use as feed,” said Cllr Mutasa.

He added that running the project sustainably will also eradicate poverty among villagers and transform the community.
