New dates set for pensioners pay

The government yesterday announced new pay dates for pensioners with effect from next month. Public Service Commission secretary Pretty Sunguro said in a statement that payments had been staggered between two days. War veterans’ pension; war veterans’ spouse and children’s pension; ex-political prisoners, detainees and restrictees’ pension; ex-political prisoners, detainees and restrictees’ and children’s pension; and national heroes’ spouses and children’s pension will be paid on September 8 while the rest of the pensioners will receive their salaries on September 11.

“The Public Service Commission wishes to advise that the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development has staggered pensioners’ pay dates. Any inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted,” she said.
