DYNAMOS are back in the limelight after becoming the first team to beat Ngezi Platinum Stars this season.

DeMbare came from behind and defeated Madamburo 2-1 at Rufaro Stadium last weekend.

That win thrust them back into league title conversations, but The Glamour Boys have been given a strong warning from the Eastern Highlands.

Manica Diamonds are threatening to bring DeMbare back to earth and their new chairperson, Tinashe Chipunza, is talking tough ahead of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash at Sakubva on Sunday.

“Dynamos should be scared and I am not mincing my words,” thundered Chipunza, who heads what looks on paper like a powerful executive.

“Yes, of course, Dynamos are a big football institution, but we are also big in Manicaland.”

The Gem Boys are a rejuvenated side following a change of ownership that happened early last month.

Manicaland-based businessman Evans Kamombo now bankrolls Manica Diamonds, which were previously funded by diamond mining company ZCDC.

The Gem Boys have now amassed nine points out of a possible 15 in the last five rounds of the Premiership campaign.

Their form in the last five rounds was only bettered by the trio of Scottland, Herentals and Highlanders, who have amassed 11 points each.

Yet there was a time when Manica Diamonds looked a sure bet for relegation.

They failed to win any of their opening 10 league games and were mostly at the bottom.

They were more like a patient in a coma, with a slim chance of making it out.

But the Gem Boys have now gone for five games without a defeat.

They managed two wins and three draws.

Consequently, Manica Diamonds have moved up to third from the bottom.

They now have 11 points, the same as Agama, who occupy the first safe position above the drop zone.

Chipunza believes the arrival of Kamombo was a game-changer.

The new executive also includes popular ZANU PF Youth Leader Taurai Kandishaya

“The resurrection is due to a combination of both resources and a renewed mindset,” Chipunza said.

“That’s why we are saying Dynamos should come prepared because we are going to give them a torrid time.

“We expect nothing short of victory because the boys are ready.

“We are not worried about Dynamos they have their own history and we want to create ours.”
