NEW: Development of National Integrated  Energy Resource Plan underway

Online Reporter

THE government is developing a National Integrated Energy Resource Plan (NIERP) to examine available energy resources and determine the least-cost energy supply options in the country.

This was said by Energy and Power Development Chief Engineer Benson Munyaradzi, who was standing in for Permanent Secretary Engineer Gloria Magombo during Thursday’s Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) 2024 pre-strategy review meeting.

Eng Munyaradzi said the integrated energy plan will evaluate the security of supply options for investment into new projects.

“The plan will also examine specific public policies, including those on security of energy supply and risks associated with the current system,” he said.
