NEW: Duo arrested for car theft

Two people have been arrested after they were found in possession of a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle believed to have been stolen outside the country.

The suspects had allegedly fitted Zimbabwean number plates on the stolen vehicle.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations are underway.

“On June 27, 2022, police in Karoi acted on a tip-off and arrested Allan Taruvinga (37) and Jivas Chizunza (48) in connection with theft of a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle.

“The vehicle was stolen outside the country and was recovered affixed with Zimbabwean number plates AEX 4930,” he said.
