NEW: Duo arrested for violence at mine

Two men in Mt Darwin were arrested for committing violence and destroying property after a dispute over the ownership of a mine.

The duo allegedly declared ownership of Rand 3 mine in Mt Darwin, before setting a makeshift hut on fire.

In a statement on Twitter, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said:

“Police in Mt Darwin arrested Misheck Matanga (34) and Tafadzwa Kaleso (23) in connection with cases of violence which occurred at Rand 3 Mine, Mukaradzi, Mt Darwin.

“The duo allegedly declared ownership of the mine before setting on fire a makeshift hut and attacking a security guard with an iron bar. Various valuable items which include cash, clothes, blankets, solar panels and jack hammers were destroyed by the inferno.”
