FOUR Zimunya men who broke into Ezekiel Guti Academy just outside Mutare early this year have been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment each.

Mutare regional magistrate, Ms Tildah Mazhande convicted Israel Murahwa (39), Dylan Sithole (29), Collen Pise (41) and Innocent Mutodi (28) after a full trial.

She suspended three years of their sentences for five years on condition of good behaviour.

Mr Last Goredema prosecuted.

He told the court that the quartet broke into Ezekiel Guti Academy in January armed with machetes, dynamites and iron bars.

“After forcibly gaining entry into the premises, the four made good their escape with uniforms, groceries and over US$1 600. Barely two weeks later, the quartet invaded the premises again in an attempt to break the school safe, but fled from the scene after failing to accomplish their mission,” said Mr Goredema.

The robbers were later arrested after intensive police investigations.
