YOUTHS in Mutare’s sprawling suburb of Dangamvura are bracing for the exciting Ghetto Cup, an annual soccer fete that features Leema 11 up against Kobz 11 set to be held tomorrow (Sunday) at Dangamvura Beit Ground.

There will be prize money, a trophy and medals for the winning team.

One of the organisers of the Ghetto Cup, China-based Kudzanai ‘Sean Kobz Junior’ Mbondo, said: “This is a challenge match that most youths in Dangamvura are anxiously waiting for. It is part of our efforts to keep youths busy and away from drug and substance abuse through sport.

“Leema 11 is a good side with some local legends (former players) like former Eastern Lions utility player Liberty Ndadzungira, Tatenda ‘Gede’ Matiringe and Collins ‘Masembo’ Muzavazi while Kobz 11 is a youthful squad with players like Lincoln Mangaira, Dion Coutinho, Roy Mangaira and John Musanga.”

Last year, Kobz 11 won the Ghetto Cup by a solitary goal.

The match will also be beamed live on Dangamvura United Facebook page.
