NEW: Good Samaritan killed while breaking fight over woman

A GOOD Samaritan from Gokwe was tragically assaulted with a knobkerrie on December 27 while attempting to stop a dispute between two men who were fighting over a woman.

Douglas Dube, aged 34, was fatally attacked by Descent Gumbi (22) while attempting to prevent him from assaulting Trust Manyemwe (21).

Gumbi, who is now on the run, accused Manyemwe of having an affair with his girlfriend.

The incident occurred at Makwakwa Business Centre in Gokwe.

In a statement, police confirmed the incident saying they were investigating the case.

“Police in Gokwe are investigating a case of murder in which Douglas Dube (34) died after being hit with a knobkerrie all over the body on 27/12/24 near Makwakwa Business Centre.

“The victim had intervened to stop the suspect, Descent Gumbi (22) from assaulting Trust Manyemwe (21) who was being accused of dating the suspect’s girlfriend.

“The victim succumbed to the injuries on the way to the hospital on 28/12/24. The suspect is on the run. Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station,” said police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
