A goods train carrying bricks collided with a BMW X5 in Tynwald South, Harare, on Saturday night.

According to eyewitnesses, the BMW driver failed to stop before the railway line and was pushed by the train for an estimated 500 metres.

The train eventually stopped but the driver was left trapped.

Firefighters were frantically trying to remove the driver believed to be a businessman from Dzivarasekwa, by the time eyewitnesses left the scene.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the accident.

ZRP National spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they are yet to get the full details on the number of people who were injured.

“We will release the information tomorrow (today) morning,” he said.
