THE Government is in the final stages of setting up a mortgage facility to help beneficiaries of the land reform programme have ownership of the land and secure title deeds.
In a notice issued on Thursday, Government said this is being done ne through selected banks.
The development comes after the Presidential Title Deed Implementation Committee started issuing title deeds to farmers.
Holders of valid offer letters for A2 permits, 99-year leases, A1 Settlement Permits, A1 Temporary Permits and ALSA leases are all eligible to benefit under the programme.
The initiative aims to provide landowners with legal ownership documents to secure their tenure and access to financial services.
Farmers who wish to process their title deeds can visit the One-Stop Centre at the Land Development and Administration Department at Block 2, Makombe Complex, Corner of Harare Street and Herbert Chitepo in Harare.
Processing time will be three days for those paying the full purchase price in cash.
For farmers opting to pay the purchase price within a 90-day period, title deeds will be processed upon payment of a deposit and will only be collected after full payment is completed.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to provide landowners with secure tenure, improve agricultural productivity, and facilitate access to financing through mortgage arrangements.
The move is expected to boost investment in agriculture and enhance food security in Zimbabwe.
The farms will be sold at their value with the following discounts:
- Cash – 15%
- War veterans – 15%
- Civil Servants 20 years and above – 5%
- Civil Servants 10 years and above – 2.5%
Cash discounts will only apply to those paying the full purchase price within the 90-day window.
