CHISUMBANJE-BASED Premiership aspirants GreenFuel kept their foot on the pedal as their promotion quest took another step forward after they thumped Melfort 4-0 to open a three-point lead in the race.

Fellow early pacesetters Mutare City Rovers stayed in hot pursuit of the leaders following their memorable 2-0 victory over crosstown rivals Buffaloes in the Sakubva Derby last Friday.

The results aided the two teams’ title charge after their closest rival Ruwa ProGroup’s challenge suffered a dent following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Surrey.

However, Manicaland’s other representatives in the second-tier division – Nzuma Bar of Buhera and Manica Diamonds Juniors – continue struggling after succumbing to identical 2-0 losses.

This leaves the junior Gem Boys in search of their first victory this season ahead of the local derby against Mutare City Rovers  this weekend.
