NEW: Harare clears drainage system

Online Reporter

The Harare City Council (HCC) has begun clearing the city’s clogged storm drainage infrastructure, ahead of the start of the rainy season.

HCC spokesperson Mr Michael Chideme said the exercise will help reduce the occurrence of flash flooding during the rainy season.

“Today council workers carried out drainage clearance ahead of the rainy season by doing a drainage clearance programme, which is an ongoing process because each day our people are littering the drainage system,” he said on Tuesday.
