A 67-year-old man has sought protection from his wife, alleging that she assaulted him and damaged his property.

Mr Edward Matimbanyoka made the allegations at the Harare Civil Court on Thursday.

He told the court that his wife, Mrs Jane Matimbanyoka, assaulted him and broke his property when they separated.

“I am embarrassed, I moved out to another location but she follows me,” he said.

He told the court that they had been together for 34 years.

“She broke my radio, kitchen utensils, and my television. She stalks me,” he said.

Mrs Matimbanyoka denied the allegations and said her husband wanted her to be barred from their matrimonial home.

“He wants to stay with his girlfriend in our matrimonial home. He wants me to be barred from the property, but we built everything together during the course of our marriage,” she said.

Presiding magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam ordered Mrs Matimbanyoka not to physically abuse Mr Matimbanyoka or damage his property.
