NEW: Harare offers war veterans free parking

Online Reporter

At least 120 employees of the Harare City Council who fought in the liberation war have been granted free parking in the central business district by their employer.

This comes after the war veterans requested an exemption on parking fees.

City of Harare’s head of corporate communications, Mr Stanley Gama, told The Sunday Mail Online that the city was finalising the exemption documents.

“Over 120 war veterans who work in council will be allowed to park for free in the CBD,” he said. “They requested free parking and we granted them their wishes. In the coming weeks, they will be able to park for free.

“The list was submitted to the city council for processing. Each individual will be allowed to register one car.”
