VETERAN sungura musician, Hosiah Chipanga, will soon be making new music after announcing that he is coming out of retirement.
Chipanga quit music about two years ago saying he was focusing on his church, Messiah Apostolic Prophetic Inspired People’s Institution (MAPIPI).
In an interview with The Sunday Mail Online on Thursday, Chipanga said he felt like he killed his soul when he left music.
“I left music about two years ago and my life has not been well since then, so to be settled I need to come back and revive my band,” he said.
Chipanga claims he is billed to perform at two live shows alongside Alick Macheso.
The first is on May 24 at Makuluwani Gardens in Harare, while the second is on the following day at Kotwa Leisure Centre in Mudzi.
Chipanga says he will use Macheso’s influence to announce his return to music.
“I have approached Baba Sharo with my issue and he agreed,” he said. “Macheso will introduce me to the public and tell them that I’m back in the industry.”
The Mutare-based musician is in the studio working on a new album titled “Muura Mutsoka”, which is set to be released in September this year.
The 72-year-old musician said he intends to serve the nation through his music.
“I am open to performing at national events, even Zanu PF rallies because it is our ruling party. We have to support it and shy away from these unorganised opposition parties,” said Chipanga.
