HARARE City Council (HCC) is in the process of installing new traffic lights and resuscitating existing ones across the metropolis.
Traffic blockages at intersections where traffic lights are not working are becoming commonplace, especially during rush hour periods.
Traffic signals at the intersection of Tongogara and Mazowe Street – usually one of the most congested intersections in the city, have since been upgraded, the local authority said in a statement.
“Council is in the process of installing new traffic signals and resuscitating existing ones in partnership with other organisations.
“Using its funds, the council is also installing traffic signals at several intersections including Groombridge shops, Whitewall and Teviotdale, along Bulawayo Road at Tynwald, Dzivarasekwa turns off and Kuwadzana First Street. The signals are backed by solar energy,” said HCC.
